Cufflinks Are The Essential Bling For The Boys by Barry Summers
When we think of Jewellery, we tend to focus on the more elaborate jewellery worn by ladies such as necklaces and pendants, long dangling earrings, rings with set stones and of course bracelets and bangles. Men's jewellery is however a much more understated than ladies jewellery, but that by no way implies the men do not treasure and cherish their jewellery as much as the ladies do. By far the most popular item of men's jewellery is the wrist watch. In spite of the fact that pierced ears are becoming all the more common amongst men, the watch is still the most common item. Saying that, you'll be surprised how many men also have items such as rings, cufflinks, tie-pins and even a necklace and bracelet or two.
Cufflinks for men are essential if they possess a dress shirt which requires cufflinks in order to fasten the cuffs, but other than that, most items of jewellery have no purpose but to add a little bling to their attire. Of course the wrist watch can show the time of day and a tie-pin may keep your tie out of the soup at a formal dinner, so some items of men's jewellery do have a purpose, but they are hardly considered to be essential. Mens cufflinks are however a whole different ball game as one couldn't possibly wear a dress shirt with the cuffs unfastened, unless of course you're Nigel Kennedy, but he's hardly a fashion role model many men will be following.
Men's cufflinks are available in huge variety of styles from simple and stylish cufflinks which look great with any shirt, to more novel designs depicting sets of playing cards, vehicle manufacturers' logos, images of the Queen or Kate & William as well as football crests and other sporting themes. Going further up market, cufflinks for men also come with precious stones set in them such as a ruby, emerald or diamond. Bear in mind however that the more unusual or upmarket your cufflink and tie pin set is, they will look infinitely better worn with a plain white dress shirt rather than when worn with a patterned shirt. Another good tip for men when it comes to jewellery is don't overdo it. Just a touch of bling here and there will work far better than adding more and more items. After all you're not trying to compete with Mr T.
